This free agency period has been slow...like "historically slow". There are still a few players on the market that could provide 4+ WAR seasons. By the way, spring training is over. I guess the greed has consumed them. The Mounties have plenty of money to spend, but it's likely unwise to spend big money when they don't know how their big prospects will perform in the big leagues. Perhaps they'll spend the money next season. But, that doesn't mean they haven't made any notable signings. We've talked about a couple of signings earlier in the off-season, but this is the most notable signing for the Mounties this off-season. The Mounties signed veteran reliever Augate Balun to a team-friendly 3 year deal.
While Balun is certainly not in his prime anymore, he has plenty to offer to a bullpen. It's a bit surprising a contender didn't pick him up considering how much the Mounties paid for him. What this signing signals to Mounties fans is the new focus on pitching, specifically in the bullpen. Raul Garcia and Angel Herrera are two of the best relievers in the league. Luis Ortega was also one of the best value signings of the 2045 free agent class. The Mounties would have been foolish to let him go back to free agency. The rest of the bullpen is good enough, but a foundation of Garcia, Herrera, and Balun for the next few years is a great position to be in. The Mounties will be looking to take the next step this season as more prospects make the big jump. The future is looking exciting here in Vancouver. Let's see what the team can do in 2047!

I had offers out to him, but didn’t want to commit to more than a 1 year deal
