TVT 2047.1 - An Intriguing Signing

Post by StormZ_23 » Thu May 20, 2021 2:07 pm

The Mounties slightly regressed in 2046 as they fell below the 70 win threshold. Nothing was expected from the team last season, but it still felt disappointing. However, as more prospects are set to join the team in 2047 and 2048, the team should be on the rise once again. As for the free agent class this off-season, it has been filled with talent. Unfortunately, Wilson Andrade chose to sign with the Portland Lumberjacks. I'm sure that the Mounties would have given Andrade an offer if they were further along the process. But, it just wasn't meant to be. However, the team did bring back David Noboru to be the third baseman for the year. Could this be a retirement tour? Who knows? But this isn't the "intriguing signing" we are talking about. We are talking about the signing of center fielder Declan Hounsell.

The Mounties have had trouble with the center field spot since Angel Gonzalez was traded. However, we believe Hounsell could one half of a solid platoon along with Cristo Lopez, who showed he can be a league average hitter in a left sided platoon. Hounsell would obviously be the right side of the platoon. Though there are a couple of concerns with Hounsell. First off, he is very injury prone. Pretty self-explanatory. Also, he's not exactly a great center fielder. He would be an elite right fielder, but he doesn't quite have the range for center fielder. However, his arm should earn him an everyday spot. Of course, we are not expecting 2041 Hounsell, but if he can provide 2 WAR and play 120+ games, Mounties fans should be happy.

Fun Fact: Hounsell was drafted at #8 overall in the 2038 draft. Who was #9 overall? Jeffrey Smith

Depends on your perspective. We like to look at it as "fortunately"
