This off-season has been relatively quiet for the Vancouver Mounties. While this isn't out of the ordinary for the Mounties considering the past few seasons, it gets a little annoying seeing all the big free agents sign with new teams. The Mounties lost David Noboru to the Sacramento Mad Popes over $1 million. So, that caused fans to worry, especially since Noboru had one of his best seasons in 2045. However, the Mounties have recently made big moves that will surely help their playoff push over the next few seasons. First we have to mention that the Mounties missed out on Miguel Ramos. Reportedly the Mounties offered him a 4 year $17.5 million deal. However, they did not include a player opt out after the 2046 season. This is why he signed with Louisville.
Although we have to look on the bright side. The Mounties signed starting pitcher Miguel Ayala to a 5 year extension worth $18.5 million. Given how much WAR he produces every season, this deal is already looking a steal without taking into account the two team options. Reportedly, he was asking for over $11 million AAV at the beginning of the off-season. This completed deal is a complete 180 in terms of asking price, but I'm sure the front office isn't complaining. Ayala has shown that he can provide value in a thin rotation. With the Mounties' playoff aspirations coming as soon as 2047, Ayala definitely has value as a mid rotation starter. Next the Mounties extended reliever Raul Garcia to a 4 year deal worth $14 million. 2045 was a breakout year for Garcia. While he didn't produce the same eye-popping stats as other premium relievers, Garcia was clearly the most valuable member of that bullpen. In a market where both starting pitchers and relievers are overpaid, these are some great deals for the Mounties as they are very likely to pay off in the long run.
One more bit of news. The Mounties signed reliever Luis Ortega to a 1 year deal worth $2.5 million. At one time Ortega was a top reliever in the BBA. While he has been more of a middle reliever or setup man in his later years, he has still produced many productive post age 30 seasons. The Mounties bullpen has been a merry-go-round of pitchers for a number of years now. But Ortega may be one of the best relievers that the Mounties have signed in the past few years. It will be very interesting to see what he can do in Vancouver.

i like that ayala signing, that is a nifty piece at a good price. You have a lot of cap space and not a ton of holes opening over the next few years, which is an ideal place to be.
