TVT 2045.6 - Fernando Castillo Extension
If you have read the BBA sportsbook recently, you would know that the Mounties do not have great odds. The over under in wins for the Mounties is 61.5. This is less than the Portland Lumberjacks. In fact, it seems there are significant connections between the Lumberjacks organization and the opening of the Brewster Sportsbook. That seems pretty fishy to me. Someone should investigate potential money laundering. Anyway, the Mounties over under in wins is 61.5. Well, 17 games into the season and the Mounties have already won 11 games. They are tied for 1st place in the Pacific and are playing very well. So, that's one reason to be optimistic for the Mounties future. But, what we really want to talk about is the extension of Fernando Castillo.
Castillo joined the organization back on Christmas Eve in 2035. Who would have thought that a decade later, Castillo would be given a giant extension to stay in Vancouver for the next 5 years. For all of his hard work for the past 5+ seasons at the big level, Castillo was awarded a 5 year extension worth $98 million. This puts the Mounties 2046 payroll at around $100 million as Castillo's contract is extremely front loaded. However, it's almost a certainty that the front office will decline David Noboru's $21 million team option. Castillo is one of the premier outfielders of the BBA. While he hasn't received much recognition in terms of awards, he has shown his incredible offensive ability since he joined the BBA back in 2040. In terms of defense, while he does not possess elite range for the left field position, he is able to get the job done at an average level. So, once the $30 million from 2046 is gone, Castillo will be earning $17 million from 2047-2050, with 2050 being a team option. This is not a bad deal for the Mounties. It gives Castillo loads of money upfront and it allows some security with the team option at the end. Let's hope that Castillo can continue his production for the rest of the decade and be part of the next Mounties playoff run, this time as a team veteran.
Oh...and let's win over 61.5 games to annoy the Lumberjacks organization.

I'm wrestling with the idea of signing Julio Barajas for that kind of money.

Re: TVT 2045.6 - Fernando Castillo Extension
very similar contract to what i ultimately signed gonzalez for (1 less year, balloon year in 2046 instead of 2047). Like it overall though.

Sounds to me like someone should be betting some money on the Vancouver OVER. Looks like easy money!!!!
