With previous Mounties manager Marco Goodwin receiving the boot with 2 years left on his contract, the Mounties had quite the task ahead of them. Finding a new manager is never easy. It is an exhausting process. So, there was no reason to believe the Mounties would find their new manager so soon. About two months after the Mounties fired Goodwin, the organization has finally found their guy. There were many rumors on who the Mounties were interviewing. The candidates were a mixture of unproven and experienced. So, who did the Mounties choose? Well, they went with the unproven route.
The new manager of the Vancouver Mounties is Mike Martinez. Like when Goodwin was hired back in 2039, Martinez has no BBA experience. It's been said that he is a fantastic manager in the independent leagues in Puerto Rico. Players have raved about his ability to get the best out of his players. Although, he doesn't use any sort of unorthodox style, he's just naturally gifted. This really shows how deep scouts go to find the best players and coaches. Within the past couple of seasons, Mounties players have shown discontent with Goodwin's managing style as he was a temperamental person. Martinez is the opposite of Goodwin. He's honestly pretty vanilla, but he knows how to keep clubhouse morale high and bring the best out of his players.
However, Martinez was not the only personnel hiring. As you may know, the team also needed a hitting coach. Well, the organization didn't have to go to far to find one. 58 year old Vancouver native, Maxwell Weiss Jr.,was hired to be the Mounties new hitting coach. Weiss Jr. has spent the majority of his coaching career coaching in the minor leagues. However, he was given a chance at the BBA level in Phoenix. The Talons didn't perform very well under his coaching, but after a successful 2044 season with a AAA team, Maxwell was due another shot at the BBA level. We're sure that Vancouver natives will be happy to see that someone from their own city will be coaching on their team.
This is going to be a long road for these two. But with some big prospects primed to debut by the end of this season, success may be closer than we anticipated. For now, the team has to stay focused under the new regime.
