Alright, the first team news of the off-season. This is a big one and something we alluded to in the last team news of the 2044 season. Some big changes are about to be made in Vancouver. First off, like we said in the last article, hitting coach Kareef Ridha was not given a new contract, thus ending his reign as the Mounties' hitting coach. This does not come as a surprise for Mounties fans as he has been virtually ineffective since being brought in. Ok...maybe that's a bit harsh. But, the team hasn't shown anything close to what they accomplished in 2042. While it can be argued that this more so has to do with the pitching, the hitting core wasn't necessarily improving much either. So, it was to time to go. We wish him the best.
However, this next transaction was both expected and unexpected. Mounties manager Marco Goodwin has been fired and the team will be searching for a new manager during this off-season. GM Taylor Bettencourt said this at a press conference: "We appreciate what Marco has done for this organization. He has been here since the 2039 season and led this team to its first playoff berth in over a decade. Unfortunately, we felt that it was time to move on." While Bettencourt was professional to the media, sources say that Goodwin had an outburst when he learned of this news (an actual article mentioned this in game). This isn't surprising since Goodwin has always been known as a "temperamental" person. While this could fire up your squad when you're shooting for the playoffs, it likely doesn't help to berate your team when they suffer their 3rd straight losing season. Goodwin was named the FL manager of the year in 2041 and as a result he was given a contract worth $1.2 million per year. There are 2 years left on this deal, so the Mounties will continue to pay him through the 2046 season. We wish Goodwin all the best in his future endeavors. It's likely he is signed by an organization prior to spring training considering his reputation. For now, we wait to see who will be on the Mounties' manager shortlist.

Re: TVT 2045.1 - Goodwin Fired
Considering the record over the last 3 seasons, not a big shock a team would fire it's manager.
