TVT 2044.15 - A Coincidence and Another International Signing

There are many ways to fill out an organization. One of those ways is through the draft, which is what the Mounties have been focusing on since GM Taylor Bettencourt took over. However, this could lead teams to negate the other ways of finding young talent. One of those ways is by signing international free agents. This is where big market teams are able to splurge their excess funds on promising young players. Another way is through international scouting, which is when teams send scouts to specific locations to find overlooked players. The Mounties made one of these signings a little while ags. But, the Mounties made another signing recently.

Noriyori Nishiyama is a center fielder from Japan. He stands at 6'0" and weighs 150 pounds. He has above average range for a center fielder along with a decent arm. He might be better suited for left field. Nishiyama projects to have 30+ home run power. He could be a clean up hitter if he hits his potential. Although, he's known to rely on his natural talent rather than putting in the extra work. The Mounties have a history of converting these kinds of players into workaholics, so maybe they can get through to him.

However, what makes this signing so special is that there are two other players in the organization with the last name "Nishiyama", Yoichi and Foster. This isn't the first group of Japanese players in the Mounties organization to have these similarities. The team had two players with the last name "Sato", Masaki and Yasutoki. They were eventually traded, but Shinzo is still in the organization. What makes the "Nishiyama situation" different is that they are the only 3 active players in the entire league with this last name. All of them are in the Mounties organization. There are a few other players with the last name Sato, but not Nishiyama. Pretty cool if you ask me.

Nevertheless, we are rooting for Noriyori Nishiyama. Maybe he will reach his potential and be in the big leagues by the end of the decade. Maybe there will be 2 other Nishiyamas waiting for him.
