TVT 2044.9 - Minor Trade

Post by StormZ_23 » Thu Sep 10, 2020 5:30 pm

The Mounties didn't make much noise during the off-season. Does that mean that we are in for an eventful season full of trades? Well, that likely depends on what the team looks like after the all star break. 3-3 is not a bad start, but the Mounties are looking to break the curse that has plagued them for the past couple of seasons. It looks like they have to tried to do so by making a minor acquisition a few days ago. Like we mentioned in the 2044 opening day roster preview, the Mounties have ran a merry-go-round in the middle infield for the past few seasons. No one has really claimed a position as their own. Francisco Martinez may come later this season, but we wouldn't count on it. Also he might not even stick at second base. So, the Mounties made a deal.

The team traded for Black Sox 2B Jose Silva in exchange for CF David McElroy. So far, Silva has been used as the second baseman against RHP. He is clearly a much better hitter against RHP, so look for someone else to cover second base against LHP. Maybe the Mounties will find that player and make another trade. McElroy is a decent prospect who had a great year in short season A. However, he clearly wasn't in the Mounties future plans, while Silva helps an immediate need. Silva may not be anything special, but he definitely can provide value to this team, whether it be with his speed or ability to play multiple positions on the infield and outfield.

That is an interesting trade, and I like Silva. A cheap deal, and can bide time until Martinez is ready. Vancouver certainly is a team I think can be a playoff team, if not a division winner this year.
