TVT 2044.6 - IFA Signing

Post by StormZ_23 » Sun Sep 06, 2020 6:07 pm

We all love international free agency right? Everyone loves the chance to sign talented teenagers full of potential and then be heartbroken half a decade later when they don't pan out. It's just the nature of the game. This year there have been quite a few players with superstar potential. The Mounties haven't exactly spent big on international free agents over the past few years. When they do sign someone, it's always under the $5 million mark. The Mounties aren't exactly swimming in cash so they don't have the luxury to overspend. However, they did just sign a player right under the $4 million mark, which is the most the Mounties have spent in a long time. They gave that money to Ramiro Garcia. Let's take a look into who the Mounties have signed.

Hailing from Ixhuatan, Mexico, Garcia is a contact hitting outfielder. He projects to have plus plus contact as well as having the ability to force long at bats. Unfortunately, he's not going to draw a lot of walks and he doesn't possess any home run power. However he can hit to both sides of the field with his gap power. A lot of hard work needs to be put in by Garcia in order to reach his full potential. Right now his main attribute is being able to hit for contact. However, he possesses above average speed at best, which may not be good enough to be a full time leadoff hitter. Also, despite the fact he is listed as a center fielder, he doesn't possess much outfield range. It's fair to call him positionless at this point in his career. He could probably handle the first base position but you don't want your contact hitter to be your first baseman. You want him in the middle infield or outfield.

Garcia has a long road ahead of him if he wants to make the majors. He received a hefty signing bonus from the Mounties, which should put him and his family at ease for many years. Now, it's up to him whether he wants to put in the work.
