I'm not sure if we have ever talked about the Miami Mounties. Well if you didn't know, the BBA has a prospect league during the off-season. This is where all of the best prospects are sent to Florida to continue their development and hopefully not get injured. Well, since we are finally talking about the Miami Mounties, that means something really bad or really good has happened. Fortunately, this is good news. The Mounties were able to do something that no other team has ever done. That's not an official stat because we do not have the time to go through every FPL season, but it sounds good so we will go with it. Within the same week, a player has hit for the cycle and another player has thrown a no hitter. Let's take a closer look.
On November 17th, David McElroy hit for the cycle in a 7-4 win against the Pensacola Jimmies. Interestingly, the last hit he had to get was a single, which is something you don't see too often. McElroy was quoted after the game saying "My numbers were gaudy but lots of guys deserve a share of the credit today." McElroy was drafted in the 5th round of the 2042 draft. He is going to need to make some more progress against left handed pitching if he wants a starting job in the majors. But, if this performance has anything to say, it's that McElroy is not stopping anytime soon.
Less than a week later on November 21st, Jose Torres, who was dubbed as the next Jon Reed by a writer here at TVT, pitched a no hitter against the Panama City Blazers. Torres started the 2043 season in A ball, but he struggled. A midseason demotion to short season A progressed his development, allowing to enter the top 100 prospects list at #70. Torres has been one of the best pitchers in the FPL, notably with his nasty selection of pitches. The 2042 first round pick is looking to move to Vancouver sometime soon. If he continues to pitch like this in the upper minor leagues, he could be packing his bags early.
