Look What I Found (Leaked Documents)
Ok. So, we know that recently someone leaked a bunch of files from the Mounties organization. Yesterday The Vancouver Times released this article showing the financial records and projections that were leaked. The financials are not looking good and could get worse in the near future. Knowing that, I decided to look through some of the leaked files. I found this. It's a memo that the league sends out when a team inquires about relocation. Apparently, this is actually a pretty common document for teams to receive as the document also includes ballpark renovation requirements. However, the city completed the Northwoods Outpost in 2025. So, while it has been almost two decades since the ballpark was built, I doubt that the team is looking to build another stadium, especially with how the financial projections are looking. The information I want to showcase from the document is this:
1. Fan interest 60 or less
2. Fan loyalty “Slightly Above Average” or less
3. Market size “Average” or less
4. Five consecutive losing seasons
5. Team not profitable over the previous three seasons
6. Attendance less than 65% of stadium capacity in both the previous two seasons
These are the guidelines created by the league office for relocating a franchise. The team doesn't need to qualify for all of these guidelines. They just need to qualify for 3 out of the 6 for the maximum reward. The team could move whenever they want, but it's the consequences that matter the most. If they left and none of these guidelines were met, they would be seen as sellouts. If they left and 3 out of 6 of these guidelines were met, there would be more of an understanding. Currently, the Mounties qualify for two of these guidelines (#1 and #6). At any point in the next few seasons, they could qualify for #2, #3, or #5 if fans continue not going to games.
We can't let the team leave. The Mounties have been a staple in this city since the inception of this league. If they leave, what do we have? Sushi? We couldn't even win the BBA food tournament thing. We couldn't beat a Jon Reed Burrito. We only lose to Jon Reed on the field, not in food competitions. Anyway, if the team qualifies for another guideline within the next few seasons, they may be left with no choice. That's my theory.

Man, you might be on to something here. It sucks that they might leave. I remember my Dad taking me to games when I was kid like 20 years ago. Those were the days.

----Yeah, it really sucks. We have to show our support for this team no matter what. I might order a Castillo jersey. I already have a Gonzalez jersey and I would hate if either of those guys left.

I wonder who leaked those documents. Has anyone figured it out yet?

----I don't think anyone has figured it out yet. A lot of people are saying Portland fans. Some are saying Bears fans. Some are saying Storm fans. No one knows for sure. But, I am actually going to put out my theory on who it was in a couple of days. Let's just say, no one has accused these guys yet.

It would suck if they left, but at the same time, they have been pretty bad for a long time apart from 2040 and 2041. I don't really want to watch a team constantly lose.

---- I get what you are saying, it can be infuriating to watch them. But in 2041, when Gonzalez won the Silk and the team went to the Cartwright Cup, the team only averaged around 31,000 fans per home game. That is less than 60% of the stadium filled. It's no wonder why the team might be exploring other options.

Good they can leave. We don't need them, they have sucked for too long and the city is better without them. Good riddance.

As someone who moved a franchise (and had it publicly announced I was doing so for multiple seasons while I waited for the 10 year moratorium to be lifted), there is a lot that goes into moving, but it can be pretty cool if you really dig into it.

Yeah I think it would be really cool but I have to figure out where I think the direction of the franchise is going before I make any decisions.usnspecialist wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 2:20 amAs someone who moved a franchise (and had it publicly announced I was doing so for multiple seasons while I waited for the 10 year moratorium to be lifted), there is a lot that goes into moving, but it can be pretty cool if you really dig into it.
