The past couple of weeks for the Mounties have been very interesting. They have won their last 8 games and are 9-1 in their last 10 games. Since the Arellano trade, the Mounties are 12-6 and are looking like a team with new life. I think we really have to thank Lando Klomp. He has been outstanding since being traded. In 5 starts, he has a 3-0 record, 2.23 ERA, 203 ERA+, 2.94 FIP, and a 1.2 WAR. Of course, this is a very small sample size against mainly bad teams, but with a potential discounted price, we could see a team friendly extension in the near future.

However, the main story is about something that happened last week. A bench clearing brawl, and who would have guessed it? It was against the Portland Lumberjacks. As we all know Fernando Castillo leads the league in hit by pitches with 31. Well, two of them came in this game, clearly Portland having nothing to lose since they have been out of the playoff picture since April. The Lumberjacks pitcher hit Castillo two times, the second one in the fourth inning really set off Castillo because it was near the head area. Castillo ran out to the pitcher and started swinging as the pitcher was running for his life. The brawl was short-lived but the Lumberjacks really showed their lack of respect here. Well, we swept them so it was fine in the end. I really want to hear what their front office has to say about this.

I think Castillo needs to quit crowding the plate...
