TVT 2039.7 - Doyle Goes Down

Post by StormZ_23 » Thu Aug 08, 2019 6:14 pm

It's always a shame to see pitchers fall victim to a serious arm injury. We had not seen this type of injury for a long time in Vancouver. Us fans considered ourselves lucky that no big league pitcher had fallen victim to a serious arm injury while in a Mounties uniform. Well, that changed just a couple of days ago.

We regret to inform that Alexandre Doyle left his scheduled start early due to discomfort in his arm. It can now be confirmed that Doyle suffered a ruptured ulnar collateral ligament (UCL). This injury is scheduled to take 12 months to recover from, however we know as baseball fans that we can never know for certain with this kind of injury. Doyle could be out until the 2041 season if he can't make a full recovery by the end of next season.

Doyle has been a fan favorite in Vancouver for a long time and it's a real shame to see him go down like this, especially with the season he was having. He had started the season as the team's closer, racking up 20 saves during that time. He had always shown promise as a starter but was always stuck in the bullpen. However, with Juan Guerrero being traded to Yellow Springs, the team had given Doyle a shot in the rotation. He pitched well in his three starts before the injury. However, this injury may deter a team from giving Doyle a spot in a starting rotation ever again. We say "a team" because Doyle is a free agent after the 2040 season. If he does not return next season, we may never see him in a Mounties uniform again. We're sure Doyle is not thinking about that right now and just wants to get back to pitching as soon as possible. We all wish Doyle a speedy recovery.

Tough loss there. At age 29, if he does lose ratings on his return, maybe he's a candidate for an Eckersly-conversion.
