TVT 2038.5 - Notable September Call Ups

Post by StormZ_23 » Sat May 18, 2019 3:53 pm

It is one of the best times of the season for a rebuilding team, roster expansion! Us fans get to see the minor league players that impressed this past season get a shot in the majors. There are quite a few names we have seen before in the majors that got the call up, but these three guys we have listed are the ones to watch. So, let's quickly check them out.

SP José Ramírez
Ramírez had a strong season in AAA and is ranked #9 in our top 10 Mounties prospects list for a reason. He ended the year with a 13-4 record and 3.32 ERA. He has been in the Mounties organization for a long time, so it's very exciting to see him finally reach the major league club. The rumors are that the Mounties will be using a 6 man rotation to end the season with Ramírez in that #6 spot. If he does well this September, expect him in the starting rotation during opening week next season.

2B Tomás Valadez
Valadez was drafted in the second round of the 2033 draft by the Mounties. He has been in AAA for the past two seasons and played very well this year, ending the year with a line of .284/.329/.420 and a 2.7 WAR. Valadez is not a top tier prospect but he can definitely be a serviceable player. He has shown great contact and can fly down the basepaths. He holds down the second base spot pretty well too. With no clear second base option for the Mounties next season, this September is an audition for Valadez to show that he belongs.

SS Gary Lewis
Lewis is only on this list because he has never been in the majors before. Drafted in the third round of the 2034 draft by the Mounties, Lewis has spent the last three seasons in AAA, not necessarily making any notable strides. Lewis is an interesting player to look at though, seeing how the Mounties are in rebuild mode for the foreseeable future, he could definitely stick in the majors as a bench player. He plays a key position at shortstop and can hold his own in the batters box. If there was not rebuild, we would not be listing Lewis here. But, let's set our expectations low and hope he can surprise us.

Everyone else that has been called up has been in the majors before. So, there is not need to list them. Let's hope these guys we've listed can surprise us and stick in the majors throughout this rebuild.

The rebuild continues. Thanks for reading!

Valadez could be an interesting player in your park, that lack of power wont really hurt him.

Ramirez definitely looks like a nice player, and did well in his first big-league game. Rotation-bound, I would guess!
