The Vancouver Times - 2037, Issue 4

After the announcement of yesterday’s trade, Taylor Bettencourt ran a press conference and answered a few questions from members of the media.

The first year GM certainly felt confident about the return in this trade. “Hugill has had a productive season and looking at the situation for the upcoming seasons, it is unlikely we make the playoffs while Hugill still had team control. So, we traded him and wish him nothing but the best in Las Vegas. As for the return, we felt we got some good guys. Echi can be that utility guy that every championship team needs. Howard has made strides during his young career into becoming a legitimate prospect. We have good reason to believe he will continue to make those strides in the Mounties organization.” Only time will tell to see how these young guys adapt to their new situation but Bettencourt definitely saw enough in them to believe that they will meet and hopefully exceed expectations.

Seeing how the Mounties are not in the worst team in the league, that must mean they are still some productive guys on the roster that could be traded before the trade deadline. “We are always listening to offers. There are some guys on the roster that could be traded before the deadline. However, there is always the possibility that nothing happens. You never really know. For now, we’re just focused on the games ahead and developing our guys in the minors.” Rumors have circled saying guys like Hotha Popo and Ki-seop Park are on the trading block. Looks like for now we just have to wait and see.

If you didn’t pick it up from my article, I’m very interested to see how Howard turns out.

As a LHB, Echi has good utility value, too.
