Yesterday we filled up the day by counting the number of languages one hears while walking around the clubhouse of the Vancouver Mounties: English (with dialects from the USA, Canada, and England), Spanish (with dialects from Mexico, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, Panama, Aruba, Cuba, and even Spain), Dutch (with dialects from Aruba and Belgium), French (from Belgium and Canada), Korean, Chinese, German, Amharic (Ethiopia), Portuguese (Brazil), and Bantu Swahili (from Kenya).
Some folks don’t realize that the Mounties have a room in the clubhouse devoted to ESL training run by the Canadian as a Second Language Institute (CSLI). CSLI also has a full-time facility for children and adults located in the trendy Yaletown district of Vancouver.
