Another awful week as the end of a truly awful Mountie season winds to a close. The single highlight was a nifty 1-0 win over Long Beach on September 15th. José Morales scattered four hits, allowed no walk, struck out three, and picked up the win. Rodrigo Lugo came one for a one-out save in the last of the ninth. The rest of the week was a disaster and is better left unreported.
We asked last week if Juan Guerrero could win 20. The answer is no. He stands at 17-8 and will get two more starts. No twenty-win season for him. We also asked if Rashardo Menne III could end up over .300. The answer is maybe. He had a great week hitting .421 with two doubles and a home run. His seasonal average is now up to .302 with seven games remaining.
The Mounties have staffed their Florida Prospect League affiliate with limited expectation of success. The Mounties farm system is ranked 24th in the league.
