The Mounties won five of seven. It started with a loss in San Fernando that gave the ursine crew a three game sweep. Then it was on to Madison where Vancouver won three of four to put a severe crimp in any playoff hopes that the Wolves maintained. Finally, back at home, the Mounties took the first two of three from San Antonio with the sweep possibility coming tonight. Performances:
- Ki-seop Park was 14 for 30 (.467) with 7 RBIs for the week. He had a home run and four stolen bases. Reportedly he has been given the green light on the base paths for the rest of the year; he currently has 52 steals in 62 attempts.
- Pierre Cordona, of all people, finally found his bat: 11 for 26 (.423) to get his season average over .200 for the first time all year.
- Rashardo Menne III was 12 for 31 (.387). The 19-year-old has got his season average up to .295 and sports 14 triples on his tab. His WAR is now up to 3.4.
- Frank Thomas, recently acquired in the infamous Hahn deal, arrived here with 500 career home runs. He added his first two as a Mountie. Speculation swirls as to whether the popular soon-to-be 41-year-old will be here next year. He has a team option for $4.0 million for 2036.
- Manuel Solíz won both his starts to bring his record to 13-10, 3.59.
On September 5th, pitchers José Morales, Alexandre Doyle, and Troy Downey combined for a five-hit shutout of Madison. Morales started but had to leave the game after four innings with forearm soreness. On came Doyle to pitch the fifth, sixth, and seventh only to have to then leave with back tightness. Downey came in and finished up the eighth and ninth. Doyle got the win. After the game trainer Roger Becker told reporters that Morales should be good to go for his next scheduled start and that Doyle will be OK after a day or two of rest.
- The Mounties hired a new pitching coach and a new hitting coach for the lower minors as well as shuffling some of those positions around. I won’t bore you with the details.
