Win three, lose three. Thank God for Boise who came to town and get swept out. Performances:
- Zi-jing Lou returned to playing shortstop and had a nice week at the plate: 8 for 20 (.400), 2 doubles, 2 home runs.
- Rashardo Menne III enjoyed the week too: 6 for 17 (.353), 2 doubles, a triple, and a round tripper.
- Pierre Cordona stayed in the lineup despite an anemic average and managed to get 5 hits including 2 doubles in 17 ABs.
- Manuel Solíz’s one start was a beaut: a 3-hit shutout of Boise with 12 Ks and no BBs.
- Juan Guerrero got his 15th win with help from Ricardo Arellano and Bert Hugill. Guerrero now stands at 15-6, 3.02 ERA, 1.16 WHIP.
So Vancouver's Northwoods Outpost is notorious for being a home run hitter's nightmare. (For lefties, the park is rated as .800 for home runs; for righties, it’s .900) Three Mounties have 20 home runs. Look at their stats for home runs per 10 ABs – one fits the Northwoods profile, the others decidedly do not:
Right-handed Guy Webb – 22 HRs - .48 at home; .41 on the road
Righty Scott Harper – 31 HRs - .57 at home; .56 on the road
- Right fielder José Ramírez was waived and claimed by Wichita. Good luck, José.
- Left fielder Manny Ramírez was waived and claimed by Des Moines. Good luck, Manny
- Pitcher Jesús López was waived and claimed by San Antonio. Good luck, Jesús.
- Catcher Dave Robertson, who had disappointed while expressing a desire for more playing time, was released.
- To replace Robertson, the Mounties signed veteran Yoshiake Nakamura to fill in as Hotha Popo’s backup for the rest of the year.
