For the first time since 2010 when Robbie Seargent won his second, a Vancouver Mountie has brought home the Steve Nebraska Award. Dirk Bessi was named the winner after a neck and neck battle with Sacramento's Michihiro Tanaka. Bessi started out the year in Long Beach after we had dealt him there in the offseason. However after a horrendous start for Long Beach, he was dealt back to us when we were in the playoff hunt. Bessi was lights out in his 23 starts here, pitching a 2.10 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP, teams were terrified when there date against him was circled on the calendar. Sadly a last minute injury took him out of the playoffs and we got eliminated. Even worse, it cause his fragile proneness to drop to wrecked, right as we're trying to discuss a contract extension.

Meanwhile, 26 year old 4th rounder Jesus Garcia took home the Jason Egan Award after an impressive campaign. Most notably he became the 12th reliever in BBA history to finish under 1 ERA with a 0.87. He also picked up a Frick League leading 35 saves which brings him up to fifth on the All-Time Mounties list. Though some are question if Serge Elovsky gets his shot at full-time closing duties, Garcia at this point will remain the teams closer until further notice.
