Time for the annual here' who the Mounties are starting this year for 2059!
C Davenport Hinkle
1B Francisco Martinez
Welcome back! After being the Mounties first basemen from 2045-2050, he returns to once again play the corner position. Martinez didn't play in 2058 despite a strong 3.5 WAR season with San Fernando in 2057. After a less than stellar season last year from Yodo Sato, hopefully Martinez can bring some stability to this position.
2B Will Lee
With Serrano not set recover till around mid-May at the earliest, Defensive specialist Will Lee will handle starting duties for the time being. While he doesn't have much of a bat, his ability to play all four infield positions will make him an important depth piece throughout the season.
SS Oskar Lojdahl
With Kramer leaving for Mexico, Lojdahl joins the team from the GBC Sydney Sharks. He struggled last year for the team offensively but his potential at defense means he could become a main stay for the next few years, given that he's only 24 years old. We'll see how he can handle his debut BBA season, but there should be some excitement if he pans out.
3B Tony Frost
Fan favorite Tony Frost again will anchor the third base position after agreeing to a two year extension in the off-season. Coming off his first ever gold glove season at third last year, expectations will be to play more of the same ball he's been playing since becoming a Mountie. With him now 38, we may be seeing his last season as a Mountie.
LF John Hopkins
One of six players acquired in the recent Phil Cole blockbuster, Hopkins will slot in as the teams lead-off batter for the 2059 season. He hit pretty well with Sacramento before struggling with Yellow Springs last year. While his defense isn't quite what the team like to build around, his high contact rating should hopefully off-set some of that drawback.
CF Ramón Moreno
Moreno followed up his good 2057 campaign with a disappointing 2058 season. Whilst his offensive stats remained where they usually were, he only managed to steal 26 bases and was caught 11 times. It's a new year though and Wharram is confident he can find his form on the bags once again.
RF Bhumimitra Keshab
Mounties legend Angel Gonzalez will leave some big shoes to fill for Keshab, who joined the team on a 3 year $6 million deal. Keshab is a plus defender in the corners and his cannon of an arm should make runners think twice before gunning for third or home plate. Like a lot of starters, many are hoping he'll find some form in his bat.
DH Raúl Peña
After coming off an exciting half season his rookie year, management hopes Peña can continue the absolute hot bat that he was. I mean he won player of the month his first month in the league, that has to be exciting right? The 22 year old will look to avoid the sophomore slump this year.

A lot of new faces. Was it a reload or will it be more of a rebuild? Time will tell.

A bit of both? Got a bit younger with someone like Oskar playing shortstop, I’m hoping he can be a long term solution there.BaseClogger wrote: ↑Fri May 03, 2024 7:30 amA lot of new faces. Was it a reload or will it be more of a rebuild? Time will tell.

Similar to how Vegas reloads on the fly. Although they seem to do that in season every so often as well!
