2056-6 Deja vu

MOUNTIES START OFF SEASON STRONG... AGAIN April 8, 2056
The BBA is back with start the 2056 season underway and the Mounties started of their campaign with a sweep against division rival Portland Lumberjacks, and then taking 3 of 4 against the San Fernando Bears. The opening day game was Phil Cole doing what he does best and dominate. 8 innings pitched, 1 run allowed was a good base for the Vancouver offense to go off. They only scored two runs, with both being from none other than youngster Elmer Willis, who hit a solo homerun in the fourth inning, and hit in the eventual game winner in the fifth. It was a solid opening day, and the team would build off that to start the season 6-1. Wait.. Why does this sound so familiar..?

Anyways a couple of good and bad notes for this start:

GOOD:

Tony Frost wowed again and did something he never accomplished in Nashville, enjoy the beautiful Mountain views from his penthouse in the city.
Oh and he also hit for his first career cycle against the Bears on Friday in the teams 7-3 win. He's off to a hot start with a .393 AVG, 3 HR and 10 RBI.

Most of the offense has started off well too, with Ewan Allman surprisingly leading the Average with a .403 AVG. Elmer Willis has looked promising as well. Whether this keeps up remains to be seen but after an average showing last year, could this be the year the offense steps up to the plate.

The starting pitchers (minus Dave Cain, sorry buddy) all had excellent first starts of the season and continue to show their solid seasons last year. Whilst it's too early to say, Phil Cole is already looking like a prime candidate again for the Steve Nebraska Golden Arm.

BAD:

Manny Toledo had an opening week to forget as he has notched only 2 hits in the first seven starts. Although to be fair those two hits alone drove in 4 runs. He scored another RBI with a Sac Fly. Whilst it's only the beginning, with a team like Vancouver wanting success from their starters, Toledo should hope to turn around this form sooner rather than later. Eduardo Correa struggled as well, but Martin Hemming will be returning off IR this week and will take his spot back in the starting lineup.

The Mounties sit at 6-1 and currently lead the division. They take on Hawaii and Sacramento next week, two teams that gave them headaches last year. Time to show this opening week wasn't a fluke!
