MOUNTIES BOLSTER LINEUP FROM TRADE WITH NASHVILLE December 1st, 2054
Fans woke up this morning to find that new GM Aaron Wharram has made his first trade as a BBA manager, and it shows he was serious about wanting to add more offensive power to a team that severely lacked it. The Mounties have acquired former MVP, multi-time All-Star and 2050 Monty Brewster Memorial Series MVP 3B Tony Frost (34), 2053 All-star 1B Jorge Gutiérrez (28), and pitching prospect Leo Hill (23) from the Nashville Bluebirds, in exchange for the Mounties top pitching prospect Glenn Walker (21).

"It took a bit of negotiating," says Wharram, "But I'm glad we came to an agreement that satisfies both parties."

Below are brief summaries of the players brought in from the trade.

3B TONY FROST:

Frost has spent his entire 13 year career in the BBA with the Nashville Bluebirds, and has quite a lot of accolades for his career. Most notably he was the winner of the 2048 League MVP, finishing the year with a .324 AVG, .976 OPS, 34 HR, 97 RBI and a League leading WAR of 8.98. He has made it to 6 All-Star games, won 5 Silver Sluggers at 3B and is a potential future hall of famer. He was also a key contributor to the Bluebirds 2050 championship team, winning finals MVP. He will also re-unite with his former 1st base coach, Aurélien Guérin, who has just signed on to be Mounties manager. Although his production has dipped the last two seasons, many believe he should have a bounce back year with a fresh start for a new team. He has three years remaining with $11 Million on each of the next two years, and a $16 million team option for year 3. Frost should immediatly slot in as the teams starting third basemen for the year.

Career stats: .274 AVG, .824 OPS, 392 HR, 1233 RBI, 60.8 WAR, 2196 Games Played

1B JORGE GUTIERREZ:

Gutiérrez was not even drafted when he joined the Bluebirds back ten years ago, but he's been able to develop himself into a solid batter that can contribute. It took a long eight years, but he eventually became a starter for the Bluebirds in 2052, and just one year later, he was named an All-Star. That season in particular was his best, with a statline of .276 AVG, .891 OPS, 33 HR, 90 RBI while having a 2.37 WAR. Similar to Frost, his overall production slipped last year and he was even sent down to AAA ball for a short stint. However at the age of just 28, he could still be entering his prime which could work wonders for the Mounties, as they still have three years of control over Gutiérrez with arbitration. Again, fans will be hoping that this player simply had an off year and that he will bounce back into his all-star form for the years to come. Expect this year to potentially split DH duties with fellow 1B Fakir Tarik, until a full time starter is decided.

Career stats: .260 AVG, .851 OPS. 76 HR, 204 RBI, 4.44 WAR, 323 Games Played

SP LEO HILL:

Considered as the throw-in player of the trade, there's still a lot to like about a pitcher like Hill. He has a solid three pitch repertoire of a Fastball, Slider and Changeup. This helped him tremendously last season in A ball, pitching an 11-9 record, 3.55 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 143 K, for a 4.4 WAR. Although he may not have as high a ceiling as Walker, he has the potential to be called up to the majors bullpen as soon as this year. For now, he will be starting the year in AAA, and progress from their. He has been a solid pitcher in the minors and could very well be a full-fledged starter in the near future!

Career minor stats: 32-26 Record, 3.43 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 433 K, 126 BB, 13.62 WAR, 78 Games Started

What do you think? Did the Mounties get better? Should they have kept their top prospect instead? Let us know!

Frost was on a fast track to the Hall before the last few seasons unexpectedly slowed him down. I still think he’s got the accolades for Hall. I’ll miss his bay from both sides of the plate, but time for a change.

Yeah for sure. Hopefully these next couple years can help solidify his case for the HOF.
