Second round pick and starting pitcher Juan Genge has been promoted from the A'-League Redwood City Rocketmen to the AA League Jamestown Comets this past week.
Genge made his third start since being selected and gained his third win against no losses. The 20-year-old went 5.1 innings this time around giving up one run on four hits while striking out seven. Juan did exhibit a little bit of control issues this time around as he issued four free passes.
As Genge moves to AA, the front office has approved his pitch count to be increased from 80 pitches up to 90 in accordance with the Valencia pitching development regimen. Genge has hit his pitch count by the sixth inning in each of his three starts.
Genge's stats overall this young season include a 3-0 record with a 0.59 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP, He has recorded 14 strikeouts and issued 5 free passes in his 15.1 innings of work.
From a scouts' perspective, Genge is currently possessing a 45 rating with a potential of going up to 55. He has potential rating of 7 or above with the cutter, curveball and changeup while clocking pitches of up to 95 miles per hour.
Genge will make his first AA start tonight.
