After the Redwood City Rocketmen finished 59-81 in the A-Level Charley Pegler league a whopping 41 games behind the division leader, the Stars’ front office decided it was time to clean house on the coaching front. While the move should make the big-league club’s coaches feel uneasy about their 63-99 season, the front office says that there are no plans to make any changes in Valencia itself outside of replacing the two base coaches whose contracts have expired.
Back at Redwood City, two of the three replacements have already been named. Replacing the former manager , Luis Beltran, is Jose Costa. Beltran retired at the end of the 2063 season.
Jose Cortez is about six years younger than his predecessor with Jose being 54 years of age. Jose has four years of experience with Buenos Aires making the playoffs two of those four years. The snapshot below shows a comparison between Cortez and Beltran.
The other replacement is putting Zak Haythornthwaite in place of former pitching coach Sultan Elahi. Zak has 12 years of experience with five of those years including post season play. Zak spent his last two years with the Tokyo Pearls in the GBC. The snapshot below shows a comparison between Zak and Elahi.
A replacement for Alfredo Hernandez has yet to be named. Alredo’s contract expired and was not renewed.
