Jose Alaniz came to the Valencia farm system as part of a trade with the Vancouver Mounties that involved Qing-lai Ou-Yang going to Vancouver and Valencia taking on a sizable portion of Kinzo Iwomoto’s salary.
At 18 years of age, Jose has progressed rapidly through the Vancouver and Valencia farm systems and is currently residing with the AA Jamestown Comets.
The former second round pick of the 2062 draft has been on a tear recently. Although he has only gone 2-2 in those four contests due to a lack of run support and a costly error, Jose has given up only two earned runs during this span.
Jose has worked 25.1 innings over these four games giving up 24 hits and 6 walks. He has also struck out 19 batters during this span. Jose’s ERA for the season is now sitting at 3.40 with a WHIP of 1.38 which the front office hopes to come down.
While Jose's ratings have mostly filled out his Stuff/Movement/Control ratings of 6, 5 and 5, he does still have room to develop his individual pitches. It is yet to be seen if this trend will continue, but it is a safe bet to think that Jose will be pitching in AAA next year and go to Spring Training with those on the big-league club.
