A one-year extension has been given to second baseman Miller Shed. The deal is set at $3.34M for the 2061 season. Reports had that the arbitration could go from $3.2M to $3.8M. The 25 year-old and 15th overall pick in the 2057 draft has become known as “The Franchise” with the Dunn Field locals. News of the deal has brought the fan interest to 69 which is the highest it has been since the current front office took over two years ago.
Miller’s 2060 season saw him compile stats that resulted in a 4.9 WAR (compared to a 5.0 WAR in 2059). Miller had a batting average of .322 with an on-base percentage of .371 in 581 at bats. He added 10 homers and 19 steals to that stat line as well.
In the field, Miller was an asset as well. He displayed an above average range while committing 14 errors in 706 chances over the course of 146 games. Miller along with shortstop Tyler Conklin who received an extension earlier this year are a formidable defensive duo with the bevy of groundball pitchers that the Stars try to utilize.
Miller’s scout value remains at the top of the charts with an overall rating of 80. His Contact/Avoid K/Eye ratings of 9/8/7 indicate that fans should be able to expect more of the same in 2061.
