It was announced today that the Valencia Front Office and Koray Kapkin came to an agreement to extend his contract in lieu of going to arbitration this off-season. The deal is reportedly worth $3M per year for 2 years.. Reports had that the arbitration could go anyway from $2.4M to $2.8M. While the GM checkbook will likely be throwing out an additional half million in 2061, there should be a a sizble discount for 2062 if Koray continues near is current production.

Koray played a reserved role in the outfield the last few seasons prior to taking over the everyday chores in centerfield this season. Koray has responded with hitting .274 through 124 games with a .357 on-base percentage while hitting 16 homers and stealing 18 bases. Koray is currently on pace for a 3.8 WAR in his first season playing full-time.

Koray holds his own in the field although he does not cover as much ground as his predecessor Habib bin Ameen who was placed on waivers this past week. Koray also holds his own at shortstop in the event that the middle infield needs a break or a double substitution is in the works during the course of a game.

Not a bad plan. Plus it stabilizes your 2062 projection for salary cap.
