Galaxy Gas 2059.36 – Stars Beat Tropics 5-1

Ready for the rematch in game 2 of the series, the Tropics looked to avenge the Stars 6 to 5 squeaker of a victory from the day before today.

Just like the previous game, the Stars first blood in the bottom of the opening stanza by scoring a run and once again it was started by a leadoff double, this time from the bat of Jose Vargas. Jose was eventually driven home when Tim Barlett hit a short line drive to right field with two outs.

Hawaii answered in the top of the second inning with a run by a sacrifice fly by Julian Rivera after Angelo Lucchesi led off the inning with a double.

The Stars came back with a run in the bottom of the third on a RBI double from Miller Shed and then another run in the fifth when Luis Gonzales hit a solo shot making the score 3 to 1 in favor of the home team.

The Stars added some insurance in the sixth when Tyler Conklin drove in two runs with a two-out double.

Tim Barlett led the Stars at the plate with three hits while Vargas and Conklin chipped in two hits apiece.

Juan Garcia (11-13) gained the win allowing just 1 run and 5 hits in 8 innings while striking out 8 and walking none. Gerarado Rae (10-8) absorbed the loss while allowing 5 runs in 5.2 innings.
