One day after the Valencia bats accounted for 16 runs, someone let lose of the termites in the Stars’ bat rack. Fortunately for the Valencia faithful making the road trip, the Stars pitching was up to the task as the Stars went on to beat Omaha by a score of 1-0.
The lone run of the entire contest happened in the top of the 6th inning when C Rafael Elias led off the inning with a double hitting a screamer that caromed off the right-centerfield wall and eventually scored when 2B Miller Shed hit a two-out single to allow Elias to cross home plate.
Miller Shed was the only Valencia player to get more than 1 hit as he went 2-4 from the plate.
Stars’ reliever Dana Pualani came in during the 7th inning and got Valencia out of a bases-loaded jam with 1 out by getting a strikeout and a fly ball to right-centerfield to end the rally.
Reynold Voermann (4-4) claimed the win going 6.1 innings allowing 7 hits and a walk while striking out 5 of the Cyclone batters. Martin Roman registered in 18th save of the season pitching a perfect 9th. Mathis Gerard (3-2) was almost as effective allowing 1 run on 5 hits in 7.1 innings of work but still was saddled with the loss.
This win marks the 4th straight win for Valencia.
