Galaxy Gas 2059.22 – Stars’ Bats Explode for 22 Hits Against Cyclones

The Valencia Stars’ bats went ballistic in Omaha enroute to a 16-4 victory. The hits kept on coming as Valencia scored in each of the last 5 innings while collecting 22 hits including 8 doubles and a home run.
Trailing 2-1 going into the top of the 5th inning, the Valencia bats began to erupt scoring 4 runs to go up 5-2. The big blow in the inning was a 2-run double by Mark Kimball.
The 6th inning saw Valencia batting all the way around the lineup and scoring another 6 runs with Mark Kimball driving in another two baserunners. The Stars scored another 3 runs in the 7th inning on a Miller Shed 3-run homer to put them up by a score of 14-3.
The Stars scored a run in the 8th inning with a Tyler Conklin RBI single and another run in the 9th with a Tim Bartlett RBI single.
Jose Vargas went 5-5 at the plate including 3 doubles while Miller Shed went 4-6 with a home run.
Xavier Vargas (5-4) was the recipient of this outburst and got the win while pitching 5.2 innings and allowing 3 runs. Arturo Meza (1-8) absorbed the loss.
