The Stars are not aligning this week in the schedule as Valencia is scheduled to do back-to-back homestands against Portland and then Sacramento. The Lumberjacks from Portland come into Dunn Field with a record of 26-10 while the Mad Popes of Sacramento are currently standing at 20-16. Portland is in the top two of many pitching categories in the Frick while Sacramento is in the top two of the fair amount of the offensive categories.
For the Stars 2B Miller Shed is currently on a hot streak going 10 for his last 18 and RF Jose Vargas is not too far behind going 7 for his last 20.
On the mound, starter Juan Garcia has had two strong outings allowing 2 runs in 7 plus innings in each of those starts. In the bullpen, closer Martin Roman has not allowed a run in his last five appearances while racking up four saves.
The oddsmakers currently have the Stars over/under at 1 for the numbers of wins between these two series. If that holds true, it may be a long week in Valencia.
