Galaxy Gas 2059.07 – BO’s Farm Report
Now that the free agency period for the Stars is effectively done after signing a one year/$1.4M contract, the Stars front office decided it was time to assess the status of the farm system. The team communications correspondent, Barf Otto (BO) has been tasked with reporting the findings.
BO was quoted as saying this with his initial observation, “The status of the Valencia farm system lands somewhere between a pig sty that hasn’t been cleaned in 6 months and a fresh pile of steaming cow dung.”
While some people in the BBA community thought BO was being too critical, BO came up with the following facts:
- The Valencia farm system is ranked 20th out of 32 teams. The ranking is only that high due to the existence of Altair Tableriou who is the 17th overall prospect – otherwise is would be ranked dead last.
- The AAA affiliate at Mars went 56-88 last season with a pitching staff that was next to last in ERA.
- Not to be outdone, the AA Jamestown club went 32-108 finishing 57 games behind the division winning High Point Hammers while having the worst ERA in the league.
- In A ball, the Redwood City Rocketmen propelled themselves to an anemic 38-102 record while also having the next to worst ERA in the league. They finished 63 games behind the Springdale Roosters.
- The Short Season A team in Saturn finished 14-62 with the worst ERA in the league.
- Russelville finished 27-41 in the rookie league. While the team was not setting the world on fire, at least the pitchers there were not setting the ball on a tee for opponents to hit while finishing 8th in team ERA.
“This requires a total overhaul of the farm system,” a source near the front office was overheard saying. “We need to look at getting new players, new coaches and cutting out the all you can eat banana split buffets until we find the right answers.”

I don’t even like Altair much either.

What's not to like about subpar contact, propensity to strike out a lot, and some homers sprinkled in there?

Throw in an inability to play any position other than first base for good measure.

We’re being overly harsh, 9 power is no joke in OOTP25. He could hit 60 home runs if he fully develops.

Sounds like Holden Dickson from when I left Jacksonville. He had 45 HRs and 231 K's while hitting .209 in 566 ABs.
