The Arbitration process for the 2059 off-season has been completed and the results are about what was expected for the Valencia front office.
There were 6 players involved this offseason with 4 of the 6 arbitration bids going in the Stars favor.
SP Adam Hines received $6.9M in lieu of the $5.8M offer from the Stars. The staff ace and local favorite finished the 2058 season with an 11-11 record with a 3.60 ERA over 185 innings resulting in a WAR of 3.4
RP Siua Hooheno came up with $1.6M instead of $1.4M. He was used mostly in the setup role oafter coming over from Charm City last year and ended up with a 4-3 record, a 5.03 ERA and a WAR of 0.9 in 2058.
3B Tim Bartlett was awarded $3.4M instead of his $4.2 asking price. His stats from last season included a .231 batting average while hitting 18 HRs resulting in a 0.8 WAR.
C Luis Gonzales was awarded $3.4M instead of his $3.7M asking price. While Luis is a defensive asset behind the plate, he struggled with the bat last year hitting .214 with 3 HR’s.
RF Koray Kapkin also did not get his asking price but was still close with the team offer being $909K instead of $1M. Koray likewise holds his own in the field but hit .225 with 7 HRs in 378 Abs last season.
RF Jose Vargas only received $1.6M of $2.2M arbitration request. The speedster/utility man almost did not get an arbitration offer from the team, but a last-minute scouting update resulted in the front office giving him another shot in 2059. This season will show whether or not that was a mistake.

Hard to get too upset at paying Hines $6.9M, though he's been on again, off again for awhile and seems to be to an "off" again year.
