VALENCIA – The Rocketmen managed to climb into 4th place in the PL Western this past season, finishing with a record of 55-85 (.392), their best result since 2050. You have to try real hard to see the glass as half full. This was Redwood City's ninth consecutive losing season, after all. Pitching on this team was improved (collective 2.5 WAR), but there is still a long way to go to get to respectability. Team hitting, unfortunately, took a step back, with a collective wRC+ of 93, and 8.8 WAR. It was mostly a case of one step forward and one step back.

Position Player of the Year: Outfielder, Altair Tableriou
Acquired: Minor League Free Agent, 05/28/52
Born: Filippias, Greece
.349/.410/.508, .918 OPS, 146 wRC+, 3.5 WAR
Signature Moment: Walk-off single on May 12, against the Twin Falls White Pines

Originally discovered by the Long Beach organization, and dumped by them less than a month later, Greek hero Tableriou (who is named after the brightest star in the constellation Aquila) has seen his stock rise dramatically recently, with future value projections bumping from 25 to 60 in a little over two seasons. A solid 2057 season, then, didn't come as a huge surprise. The 21 year old tagged Class A pitching, which will surely earn him a promotion in 2058. A few red flags regarding make up make it hard to gush about the guy, who has, by all accounts, a bit of a 'challenging' personality. Moreover, he lacks polish in the field, and a 6/7/9/7/4 potential designated hitter doesn't exactly make one weak in the knees.

Pitcher of the Year: Alberto Muñóz
Acquired: 2054 Draft, 27th Pick in Round 8 (257th overall)
Born: Sallisaw, Oklahoma
4.57 ERA, 146 K, 31 BB, 178 HA, 18 HRA, 155.2 IP, 92 FIP-, 2.7 WAR
Signature Moment: Struck out 11, walked 1, allowed 6 hits, and earned a game score of 67 in 6.1 innings pitched in a start against the tombstone Geckos on July 16

Muñóz stood out on the Redwood City staff mostly by not being terrible. The willowy Muñóz has a four-pitch repertoire and a fastball that now tops out at 94 mph. His hard hit rate is troubling, however, and Muñóz looks like a non-prospect, as so, so many pitchers in the Stars organization currently do. The BBA scouting service has been downgrading his future value, which now sits at a 25.
