VALENCIA – It's now been 10 consecutive losing seasons for the Comets. In fact, 2056 was the Stars Class AA club's second worst on record (34-106). Jamestown finished last in their division thanks to stupendously bad pitching and utterly feeble hitting. The club scored just 548 runs and gave up 1043 runs for a -495 run differential. Woof. Bright spots were hard to find.

Position Player of the Year: Infielder, Loren Larson
Acquired: 2056 Draft, 13th Pick in Round 1
Born: Columbia, South Carolina
.286/.392/.552, .944 OPS, 159 wRC+, 1.1 WAR
Signature Moment: Went 3 for 4, including a double and 2 home runs and 5 runs batted in, on August 2, against the High Point Hammers

Larson wasn't promoted to the Comets until the end of July, and only played in 30 games. The two-time Valencia first round pick started out in Class A Redwood City this season and made an instant impact at the Class AA level. There's not much doubt that he could develop into a big league hitter, the big question for Loren is what position he will play. The Stars have played him at third base through his time in the minors so far, where he has been okay. Do his current skills in the field make for a big league third baseman in the Frick? They don't. Do the Stars need another first base prospect? They really, really don't. He may need another year or two to figure out the hot corner. The BBA scouting service has assigned to him a future value score of 55.

Pitcher of the Year: Sabeer Adnan
Acquired: 2055 Draft, 20th Pick in Round 2 (57th Overall)
Born: Sitrah, Bahrain
3.72 ERA, 65 K, 22 BB, 88 HA, 6 HRA, 82.1 IP, 93 FIP-, 1.4 WAR
Signature Moment: Struck out 6, walked 1, allowed 9 hits (including 1 home run), and 1 earned run in 8.2 innings pitched in a losing effort against the Beaumont Drillers on July 29

Adnan spent the bulk of last season in Jamestown after earning promotion from Class A Redwood City in May. He managed to turn in some good performances in his age 21 season for the Comets despite a .340 BABIP, and the parent club rewarded him with promotion again to AAA Mars at the end of August. In spite of this, scouts don't see Adnan as a future big league player. His future value was downgraded this season from 35 to 30.
