Valencia Stars Report: Off Season # 1

The Stars goal this off season was add more offense as the team really needed to score more runs this season...The Stars went after 3B Ashton Fontenot who ended up with Birmingham...The Stars still looking picked up some veteren bats for 2004 season...

The first signing was vet Outfielder Jimmy Slizz...Slizz 34 is a career .292 hitter and last season saw him at .253...Still a good contact guy a has very good speed....
Then the Stars picked up vet 2B Tim McGraw...With the injury to last years starting 2B Ed Ross McGraw could fit in nicely at 2B...

The Stars added clutch relief pitcher Pedro Martinez to the Stars pen..Martinez adds more depth to the pen which did better last season but stuggled at times....Still looking to add some power the Stars then added 37 year old vet Guam Fantomhorsfli...Fantomhorsfli has had a very good career and last season still hit 18 homers...For Fantomhorsfli this will probably be his last stop before he retires...
Too add a little more depth the last signing was OF Seok-heung Pak will be a extra OF to come in if anyone gets injured...He plays good D with some good speed....

I had my eye on Martinez. But I can't seem to pull the trigger on paying relievers over 5 million right now other than my closer. A plan that will likely bite me one day.
