VALENCIA – The Valencia Stars announced today that the team will not be renewing the expiring contract of General Manager Aflredo Vásquez, number two man at the club. In a brief written statement, club president Morris Ragland said that the team wished Vásquez well and that "while we remain confident in Alfredo's abilities as a baseball executive, we feel that it's time for a new voice and new perspective in the front office."

Vásquez joined the Stars in 2048, after a twelve-year career as an executive for a handful of big league clubs.

Velasquez is the highest profile departure from the club front office after a disappointing 2050 season that saw the team, which had made the 2049 playoffs (and finished in second place in the Pacific Division), finish dead last in the division with a 62-100 record.

Many observers believe that more personnel will be let go in the weeks to come. While Ragland's position appears to be safe for the time being, Manager Mel Jenkins's seat is said to be particularly hot, though league rules forbidding the team from contacting personnel employed by other Brewster clubs may hamper the Stars' efforts to replace their on-field manager, if that is indeed a direction they are headed in. Jenkins, who also joined the club in 2048, has a career 234-252 record as a manager.
