Dear Valencia,
This is hard, I'm not gonna lie. You know I'm not the most demonstrative guy. How do you say goodbye to the only baseball family you've ever known?
Though I didn't know it at the time I was drafted, the Santa Clarita Valley was a perfect fit for me. It's where I met my wife, Anita, and where we welcomed our first child, Mateo, into the world. You welcomed us with open arms, and have showed us such kindness through the years. We will be forever grateful.
In the end, this is the community that helped me grow, not just as a ballplayer, but as a man. As a teenager in Puerto Rico, I could not have found Valencia on a map. But it wasn't long before this place made an impression on me, eight years ago during my rookie season, looking out on a sea of cheering fans. Nothing really prepares you for the sound of forty thousand people chanting your name. Goosebumps.
You will forever be a part of me, as I hope to remain a part or you. Not for a moment did a I doubt that you had my back. The support of the fans has been very, very special. So many memories here for me. More than I can count. The walk-off against Yellow Springs my rookie year, the three home run game against Des Moines, the playoffs in '41, my three-hundredth home run against the Popes...
I am proud that I could bring some joy to you all. Please know that you have touched me as well.

I think he still goes in as a Valencia Star, if he makes it that far.

I would think so. Needs at least a couple more solid seasons I think.aaronweiner wrote: ↑Mon Aug 23, 2021 4:37 pmI think he still goes in as a Valencia Star, if he makes it that far.
