VALENCIA - The Valencia Stars have a new general manager, Morris Ragland, the team announced Friday.

Ragland signed a multi-year contract and will be the team's ninth general manager in team history, and second to transition to the Pacific Division via Lebanon. He'll also serve as president of baseball operations.

Ragland comes to Valencia from Beirut, where he served in the same capacity for part of 2046, and all of 2047. During this period the Cedars reached the United Cup finals, and last season won 96 games, equaling a club record for wins in a season. Other front office changes in Valencia are expected as the new head man assembles his executive team.

“We are going to be continuing the work of those who came before us, building on the vital facility improvements already in place and continuing to grow the club and its fanbase,” Ragland said.

Ragland was raised in Arkansas where he grew up cheering for the Cardinals of the MLB and the Crawdads of the then MBWBA. While his own playing career ended in high school, Ragland never strayed far from the game, working for ball teams at various levels in some capacity since he was eighteen.

"As a lifelong baseball fan, I recognize what a special opportunity this is and how much the Stars mean to the community," Ragland said.

By the way, important note: $23 million is going into your coffers from my team for taking Arthur Dempster's contract.

Nothing says "welcome to the team" like a truckload of cash.
