"As the temperatures rose during the summer the bats of the Stars started to cool, with no run support the pitchers couldn't carry the mountain of pressure on their shoulders and so they began to buckle. The in house feuding only fanned the flames of disaster, our GM tried to put the fire out but was trying to douse the flames with a bucket that had a great big hole in the bottom. We needed to change, from top to bottom we all needed to change hence the rebrand and taking the organisation apart brick by brick and rebuilding it".

"We'd let go of a few coaches who I felt weren't developing our prospects as I felt they should, I replaced them with coaches I felt would get the best out of our minor leagues. I'd placed players on waivers who wouldn't be with the organisation in 46, brought up younger, hungrier players. One GM was heard saying "The great Valencia purge of 45" he hit the nail on the head.
What we were doing, wasn't working. I'd walked into Beirut only needing to change bits and pieces, I'd started with Valencia the same, I was wrong. I needed to go back to my first day in Athens, start at ground zero, look at Valencia as an expansion team. The purge starts now!"

Page 3. Dunn Field.
When the first issue of A Sky Full Of Stars hit the shelves Dunn Field was just an artist's impression on what the ballpark would look like, today that dream is a reality.
Dunn Field is named after Valencia Stars BBA Hall of Famer & Hall of Stars inductee Jason Dunn, Dunn's name was voted by the Valencia Stars fans to adorn the new ballpark by a majority of 87%.
Although Dunn Field will be named after a positional player it will be far from a hitters paradise, if hitters found it tough to hit the long ball in Honigsfeld Field just wait till they try swinging for the fence in Dunn Field.
Most statheads are pointing at the new ballpark being a pitchers park, one or two statheads like Jim Williams are saying the Stars are playing the field.
"At the end of the day Dunn Field will be bigger than Honigsfeld Field so it should help the pitchers, however there big hitters Haney, Barney and Brisset all hit more home runs at home than on the road so they'll still have power in there line up".

Page 5. 2045 Stars Review.
Despite having no off season to work with nobody gave any excuses on the poorest season in the Stars history, the minor leagues may have been ranked above the half way mark in the minors rankings but it was bloated by players who were 3 even 4 years away from the majors if in fact they ever will sip that cup of coffee.
The Stars front office knew it would be a slow process, they knew there would be whispers in the corridors of the BBA had the Stars employed the best man for the job. They were prepared for all that, they were even prepared for the infighting within the clubhouse. 2045 was going to be a bumpy ride so they strapped themselves in.
April Record 9-18.
The schedule God's could have been easier on the Stars and there new leadership but they weren't, a series against the Long Beach Surfers that had tipped the scales at 100 wins in 2044. The Hawaii Tropic shaving 90+ wins then throw in 5 others who had 5 or less wins short of 90, add to that a Twin Cities River Monsters organisation that had employed the capable hands of new GM Ted Schmidt and it was a tough start to say the least.
When the smoke had cleared in April the Stars had a losing record of 9-18 but had come away with the respectability of a tied series against the Twin Cities, Louisville Sluggers and Vancouver Mounties. In fact there biggest defeat was against Louisville 11-2 but on there way they had shut out the Seattle Storm 3-0, despite a 9-18 record they had only been outscored by 18 runs.
May Record 9-20
There was no respite in May with 6 of the 9 teams Valencia faced having winning records the previous season in 2044, they did however gain not only there first series win but also there second, both at the expense of the San Fernando Bears. They however still couldn't beat there nearest rivals distance wise in the Long Beach Surfers having lost there series in April 2-0 and following it up in May with a 2-0 series defeat.
Although an overall worse record in May than April the 2 series wins over the Bears may have brought a semblance of a smile over GM Thomas face, no doubt the tied 2-2 series against Nashville Bluebirds may have brought another. It was Nashville's GM Chad Nason when with Kuwait City that put a spanner in the works of the Athens Fighting Centaurs who were at the time led by GM Thomas, the Centaurs missing out on the play offs when forced into a game 163 against the [/URLhttps://statspl.us/brewster/reports/news/html/teams/team_581.html]Jerusalem Hebrew Hammers[/URL] having suffered a defeat at home to Kuwait City on the last game of the season.
June Record 9-18
The third 9 win month in a row, a sweep of Seattle 2-0 the highlight of the month and 4 tied series 1-1 against Hawaii, Seattle and Long Beach at home and San Fernando on the road. However there was disappointment with 2 defeats against Hawaii and disaster against Sacramento in a 4 game series sweep for the Mad Popes.
July Record 6-19
For the first time since the opening month the Stars didn't win a series and winning only 6 games there worst total in a month for the season so far. 12 of the 19 defeats coming against the Chicago Black Sox, Twin Cities, Long Beach and the Omaha Cyclones who all won 3 games with the Long Beach Surfers sweeping the Stars 3-0 during the month.
It wasn't a surprise though that July contained the least amount of wins, of the 8 teams the Stars played Hawaii, Twin Cities, Des Moines Kernels, Long Beach and San Fernando were on the road with Chicago, Omaha and Vancouver Mounties at home. Chicago, Omaha, Long Beach and Twin Cities would all make a play off appearance come the end of the regular season.
August Record 7-21
The start of the month didn't seem too bad, a defeat against a Vancouver Mounties team carried over from the series started the previous month, a 2-1 series defeat against the Seattle was followed up by a series 2-0 sweep over Long Beach.
It all went downhill after that, Louisville, Yellow Springs Nine and Hawaii all swept the Stars be it on the road. 2-1 series wins over the Portland Lumberjacks and Madison Wolves were just the slices of bread on the outside of a sweep filled sandwich of Sacramento and the Seattle.
September Record 12-15
A 12-15 record in September far outshines a 6-19 record in July or a 7-21 record in August, in fact if Valencia could have kept a 12-15 pace through the season they'd have been looking at 72 wins instead of 53, it wouldn't have made a difference in the standings but would have stopped a 100+ defeat season.
Highlight of the month and we did it for our GM moment was the 3-1 series win over Nashville.
Aaron Haney said in an interview after the series.
"That's revenge put to bed for our GM, may have taken awhile but they do say it's best served cold. I'm just glad the league vetoed that trade or else my Mamma would have had to talk sense in GM Thomas's head over that crazy trade he thought up, he did apologise to my Mamma by having some of her recipes in the media guide".
"We didn't win enough games, now I know people are going to laugh at that but we didn't win enough games. By that I mean we lost games, you see I send out my teams to score 5 runs, anymore it's a bonus but any less it's a disappointment. This season we lost 28 games by our opponents scoring 4 or less runs, 28 games that if we had scored 5 runs we'd have won. Then throw in 13 games we lost when our opposition scored, another 18 games were our opponents scored 6 to win the game, again if we score 5 we run them close and again who knows how they play in the latter innings.

Page 14. The Minors.
The evolution of the minors hasn't just been felt across the Valencia Stars organisation these past few months, it's been felt across the landscape of the BBA throughout its history. We may well have five levels of minors today but go back a few years, in fact just a handful of years more than Aaron Haney's been on the planet we only had four.
We've welcomed teams like the Ashland Slowriders the Richmond Panthers and the Winnipeg Goldeyes, we've said goodbye to the Kalamazoo Kangaroos the Halifax Fighting Scots and the Monroe Gigolos, no doubt we'll welcome more and say farewell to others just like the Stars have done in 2046.
