Valencia Stars Report: 63-64 # 5

Post by leejay56 » Tue Nov 15, 2011 9:46 pm

The Stars are having a very so-so year and now are one game below .500...Of course the goal was at least a wild card slot..The wild card slot is almost to far away being 12 games away but stranger things have happened...The bullpen has been a huge dissapointment so far this season...With a 4.81 era for the pen it has cost the team too many games and needs to be looked at next season during free agency or vis trade...The offense has been struggling too but if you have a pen that cant close put games you have problems....The power part of the Stars game is back hitting 128 homers which is 4th best so far this year....

VET CLOSER Marty Powers as he announced his retirement from pro baseball. Rumors have had him on the verge of retirement since late last week but were not confirmed until today. Powers has compiled an ERA of 3.92 with 289 saves. He has tossed 1605 innings with 1298 strikeouts. He has a won-lost record of 105-102...Powers is 11 saves away from 300 career saves...Its going to be close as he is averaging 6 saves a month...It would be too bad if he is just a few short....

Utility player Jeffrey Osborne finally at age 31 got his chance at geeting on to the Stars roster as a utility player...Osborne is showing the Stars that he belongs as he is hitting .310 with a .423 OBP and over the last 39 games he is hitting .600...So for now Osborne looks to be staying up on this roster and could be a lock at the backup role next season too.....

Starting Pitcher Devon Hyngary Is having another fine season...Hyngary 232 K's lead the league so far this season...Overall Hyngary has won 10 games and in 198 innings he has 232 K's with a 3.73 ERA...At 29 years old Hyngary is 4 K's shy of 2,400 for his career..In 1999 he did get 312 K's for the season....Bar injuries Hyngary could be at 3,000 Strikeouts in the next 2-3 seasons.... :pickles:

I've always enjoyed being in leagues with Lee. That being said, I think we've been in leagues together off and on since 1998 and we still have never completed a trade :)

I think I made one big trade with Lee somehwere along the lines. not sure which league and when. It seems Lee took a lot of prospects from me by trading a big time player. The only reason I remember or (I think) is Recte commented on it being an uncharacterstic move by Lee.

Or perhaps I'm dreaming this...
