Valencia Stars: 37-43 (.463) # 5

The Stars have been playing very sluggish the last two months...In May the Stars looked a little bit better with a 14-13 record but in June they fell back to a 12-14 record.. its seems like the offense and pitching just cant get it together to string some wins together. The only exciting part of the Stars this season is the homeruns as the Stars are number 1 with 162 this season..

Veteran starting pitcher Donald Harris was doing great this season..In MAY Harris was named Frick League Pitcher of the Month with 4 wins and no losses with 42 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.90 ERA in 42.2 innings of work. This season has been Harris best season since 2039 with JACKSONVILLE when he went 13-4..This season Harris was 7-4 3.47 but now will miss the next 5 weeks due to a Strained shoulder. Harris should be back in August.

Youngster starting pitcher Jafar Haamid will take the number 4 slot in the rotation. Last season Haamid in 12 games with the Stars, 6 starts and ended up 1-4 5.87 with 3 saves..
Hopefully he can hold down the 4 slot in the rotation for 4 weeks until Harris returns...

The Stars number 1 pick this season 21 year old John Olson started out good in AA in his first 4 starts going 1-2 4.13 ERA. Although in his last 2 starts Olson pitched 16 innings 3 earned runs, 4 walks and 10 k's...Olson was called up to AAA to see how he can do at that level. The Stars would like Olson do to well enough to get a shot with the Stars next season... With lack of pitching depth the Stars can use another arm..

Olson might be a year further away. Time will tell... but he should be a good one.

Life is a bit more beautiful when time is measured by the half inning rather than the half hour.
