Valencia Star Report: # 1 'The Carp' Retires

Post by leejay56 » Wed Sep 07, 2011 1:28 am

Stars OutfielderMichael 'The Carp' Malkowski at age 38 has decided to call it a day and retire from the MBWBA this season...Malkowski played 13 seasons, 8 seasons with Omaha 1 with Washington and 4 seasons with Valencia..'The Carp' wont get into the HOF, but always played hard and ended up with a solid career...Malkowski
came short of 200 homers with a total of 193, 1241 total hits 679 RBI'S and ended up with a .273 batting average....Malkowski best season was in 1998 when he hit .304 26 homers and drove in 80 runs for Valencia...
He played for me starting in Omaha and we brought him over to Valencia to finish his career here... 'The Carp' has been talking about getting into coaching either as a manager or hitting coach...I'm sure he will pop up somewhere... :bye:

You forgot the Carp's 42 games with Calgary after you waived him during a crucial playoff run! He was a solid player in this league.

I think the carp got a mandatory release from the Stars when they were over financially, but it was nice to see him come back for a final run.

Yet another funny name with real-life connotations from Matt's youth heading "to the farm".

Yeah, Good Luck to the 'Carp' ! I let him go from Omaha when he wanted a ton of money but resigned him mid-season when he accepted a $5m back-hander. Nice to see him last this long
