Valencia Stars: 2041 draft # 4

Post by leejay56 » Fri Feb 07, 2020 10:52 am

The Stars still have plenty of offensive players in the pipeline but only a few pitchers that can make the major league club. So going into the 2041 draft the Stars loaded up on pitchers thought out the draft...This years draft the Stars started out with the 25th selection in the draft, the lowest in years since the team has been winning...

25th over all pick was SP Carlos Silva . Silva is 18 years old, pot rating is 50, has pretty good stuff, Movement and control. The Stars liked his pitching rating as he has very good
Changeup, Fastball and Slider. Silva has great raw stuff, and hopefully can develop into a backend SP, maybe even a # 3...

Round 2, Pick 24, 75th overall pick the Stars drafted CL/MR Pepe Fernández. Fernández good stuff, and average Movement and control but has 2 solid pitches, his Fastball and Slider. Fernández keeps the ball on the ground and hopefully he can be a solid MR guy in the future...

Round 2, Pick 30, 81st overall pick the Stars drafted SP José González . González IS 18 from Nicaraguan. When he is fully developed he has 4 pitches, a wicked changeup, a very good fastball, a good forkball and a average splitter...González lacks command and only average stuff..He might end up as a # 5 starter or mid relief guy...

Round 3, Pick 20, 126th overall pick the Stars picked up MR Greg Meadows . Meadows was a interesting pick as he didnt really play much in HS...The Stars feel at the 126 pick he was the best available MR.. Meadows projects to have a plus curve ball, solid cutter, and at the time not much of a changeup. Meadows has pretty good stuff and control but is movement is going to be a challenge. Meadows has a shot to make the club as a MR guy or if the changeup gets better maybe a spot starter...

So the 2041 has given the Stars 4 pitchers that wont be Stars but now they have more depth for the future...
