The Stars are having a very good year so far this season.. The year started off with many injuries to some very good players, Frank Mahaffey who had 50 homers and 107 RBIS last season and Kiichi Suzuki who had 26 homers and 53 Rbis last season and 1B Mike Ellis who last season hit .322 with 201 hits. So to lose 2 power guys and your lead off hitter for the first 6-8 weeks but the Stars still continue to win so far this season... The depth in the minors really helped this season to fill in for the injured players...
Prized prospect Aaron Haney was called up after last year in AAA he was fantasic, as he hit .332 42 homers 101 Rbi's in 128 games.. Its was Haney time. Haney in his first 71 games has done very good, hitting .306 16 48 stat line.. plus add in his 21 stolen bases and his top D in CF Haney is becoming a top player in the league...

Martin Felix, Jr. filled in Mahaffey and did really good. Felix in 30 games hit .357 filling in was a hitting machine during that time...Felix only had 1 homer but his 35 hits in 98 AB was very helpful to the Stars getting some early wins..
Once a top spec in the Stars organization before he got injured in 2037 Rory Wakely has been a solid performer at 2B this season...Wakely gives the Stars a good D at second base, plus he has started to make good contact as he is hitting .282 with 9 doubles and 3 triples so far...Wakely also has tremendous speed and has 16 stolen bases so far this season... Wakely is doing so good the Stars are still having him start at 2B...

Rookie 1B Júlio Guerra didnt set the work on fire when he was starting but he did give the Stars 5 homers and looks like he can be a future 1B/DH hitter for the Stars....Guerra will go to the bench for now and get a chance to start a little...

Catcher Takanobu Nishikawa didnt fill in for anyone but got his chance to take the starting catcher role this season...Nishikawa has done a great job early on this season...Nishikawa has a .260 batting average but has shown great power with 18 homers in his first 59 games, and has 59 RBI'S...

The last player who got his shot to fill in was Rookie utiliy player Enrique Hernández. Hernández has mainly started vs LHP... So far a very solid performance for Hernández as he is hitting .291 in 25 games, with 6 doubles, 3 triples, 1 homer and 12 Rbi's...Hernández still will remain a starter vs LHP as he has earned it...

Of course add in all the other starters and with a better performace from the pitchers the Stars have held on to first place...its still a long season and the Stars still remember last season they were in the wildcard slot until the last two weeks of the season when the team fell apart...
