Valencia Stars: 22-13 (.629) # 3

The Stars 2040 season is looking good so far even with all the injuries that they have had.. The Stars offense is one of the top offensive teams this year and both Frank Mahaffey who hit 50 homers and drove in 107 runs last year and 3B Kiichi Suzuki who had 26 homers last year are both missing. Mahaffey will be back in the line up starting next week. Suzuki has another 3 weeks left until he is back on the team..
Outfielder Martin Felix, Jr. got his chance to fill in for Mahaffey and really made the best of it...Felix "23 years old" in 25 games this season has hit .359 during that time...Over the last few seasons Felix has been brought up and filling in for any injured players or a September call up...In his first few seasons as a part time player Felix now has a career batting average of .281..

2B Rory Wakely who got his shot filling in when
Suzuki went down is also doing a great job. Wakely at one time was a Star top prospect until 2037 when he injured Torn labrum (Shoulder) and really never fully recovered from the injury. Wakely has worked hard and finally got his shot this season to get a starting job while the injury. Wakely has definably made the best of it, hitting .304, 11 stole bases and has played a terrific D.
Last season Wakely played in 56 games and hit .248 but looked good enough to get the backup role on the team this season....

When the Stars decided to put Luis Ortega who was there closer up for grabs during the draft to save the 23 M over the next few seasons the Stars thought the closer role could be by committee. SP Jorge García who manager Anthony Light though he would be the first one for the closer role has done a fantastic job at the closer role...
In 17 games García has 12 saves, in 20 innings of work García ERA is 0.89 and has 25 K's too...The Stars thought the future for Garica would be in the rotation, and it could be in the future, but for this season he is the Stars closer...
