Valencia Stars: Off Season # 1

Post by leejay56 » Tue Sep 24, 2019 1:12 am

The Stars Off Season has be quiet so far...A few trade discussions but nothing really happened...The big off season move was the Stars did not protect top Closer Luis Ortega . Ortega in his two years got 77 saves and a War of 3.0. Ortega was looking good, although last season his ERA of 3.86 was a lot higher than the year before and the Stars owed him 23 million over the next two years. So with so many of the Stars players contracts coming up the Stars decided to let him go and use the money on some signings of there best players...

SS Ángel Zalapa was the Stars first priority to sign. Zalapa 24 signed a 4 year 52M deal. Zalapa in his first 4 seasons has a .295 batting average, 161 Homeruns, 429 RBI'S. Also his 24 WAR over 3 years was the highest over that time by any Star Player... Last year Zalapa hit .332 46 homers and 123 RBI'S...

CF Ramón Pagán was the next to sign..The 22 year old has a fantastic season last year hitting .283 46 homers and 121 Rbis...Pagán was rewarded with a 3 year 32 M contract..

The last big signing is RF Wilton Rivera for the largest contract in Stars history. Rivera received a 6 year 128,000,000 M contract. Rivera 26 has a career .270 131 380 line. Rivera has a total of 211 doubles over that time...

So the Stars have been busy getting some of there best players signed for more years...

Extended too many years for his current major league service time.
One concrete contract rule strictly enforced is that any player with less than 5 years of ML service time will not be allowed to sign a contract extension of longer than 3 seasons. Additionally, any player with less than 5 years of ML service time may not be tendered an extension of longer than 3 seasons. Any contract found violating this rule will be nullified and will have to be renegotiated to fit within this rule. Teams that violate this rule will be penalized $10 million from their Bonus Funds.
