Valencia Stars:82-81 (.503) # 7

The Stars were in the race all year long but collapsed in August and September... In those two months the Stars record was 24-29 which is not enough to make it to the playoffs in 2039...Still very disappointing end to a very good season. This team needs to make the playoffs next season.. So soon the Stars will know who the 3 players that will not be Stars in to 2040 season...

Rookie SP Pepe Hernández ended his rookie season on the upside..In his last 3 games Hernández went 2-0 with a 2.00 ERA...In 14 starts this season Hernández ended up the season with a stat line of, 6-2 95 innings 97 hits 32 walks 64 K's with a 4.26 ERA...In September he seemed to really settle down going 2-0 in 5 games, 2.35 ERA, 30 Innings and 27 K's...Hernández will be a big part of the rotation in 2040...

The Stars other rookie starter Jorge García had his ups and downs this first season.. García pitched in 17 games this year, and pitched in 95 innings 105 hits 73 K's and had a 5-5 record...García started off strong going 5-3 but in September he fell apart going 0-2 5.74 ERA...Next season García will get a full season to see what he can do... Hopefully 2040 he can improve and pick up at least 10-12 wins...

SP José Martínez had a solid season for the Stars..Last season Martínez started 17 games but this season he started 33 games and did ok...Martínez did win 13 games, but lost 13 games...In 170 innings he allowed 160 hits, had 159 K's and walked only 43 with an ERA of 4.54... Not bad for his first full season as a starter and the Stars feel 2040 he should get better...Before this season he only started 29 games as Martínez was a middle relief pitcher...So the 33 games was a push for him and he just wore out in September going 1-4 with a 8.86 ERA, Ouch!!!
The pitching should be better in 2040, lets see who the final two slots will go to....

Yeah, the Stars seemed to run out of gas a bit, there.
