Valencia Star Report: 53-46 (.535) # 3

Post by leejay56 » Mon Jul 11, 2011 8:14 am

The Stars who have a very comfortable lead last week of 10 games saw it get cut after a terrible week...The Stars went 1-9 and lost 4 in a roll to California and then 2 0f 3 vs Vancouver...There lead is now only 4 games. After starting the year in April and May going 33-22 the Stars in June and so far in July are 20-34..It looks like two different teams have been playing..Hopefully they can get it together and start winning again...

On Saturday July 7th SS/2B Maddux Vaughn became the latest player to reach the 2000-hit plateau. He did it in Valencia's 7-4 win over Louisville. Vaughn finished the day with 2 hits in 5 at-bats and had an RBI... Vaughn's all-time stats include: 2000 hits, 434 doubles, 40 triples, 168 home runs and 810 RBIs in 1758 games. His career batting .296 with 13 stolen bases and has scored 817 runs.

39 YEAR old vet outfielder and future HOF'er Gary Barr is out again but this time it could be the rest of the year...Barr's injury problems started in 1999 when he only played in 24 games and for the forst time ever missed the season...Last season he missed 26 games and was really looking forward to this season...Barr was in his last year of his contract and feldt he had allot of game left... After ony playing in 25 games Barr fractured his finger and will be out for 2-3 months..He plays the same way now as if he were 25 years old but these injuries have slowed him down...Still Barr offense has been great and in the 25 games he was hitting .327 4 doubles and 6 homers and drove in 14 runs...It could be the last time Barr plays with the Stars which is not the way he wanted to leave...If he decides to play in 2002 he will be 40 years old at the start of the season... Barr has 3178 hits so far with 457 homers, 507 doubles, 1650 rbis and 259 stolen bases....Great career so far for Barr and maybe there's more to come.....

Statslab projects Vaughn to get over 3,100 hits in his career, of course they have him playing until 39 to get there.

Where in Statslab do you see individual player projections?

If you go to the Milestones tab and choose record watch it will break down the pace that the leaders are on for both season and career records. Vaughn happens to be on the career hits list.

I will be very mad at you, Lee, if you allow Vancouver to sneak into the playoffs!
